When grid demand peaks or supply tightens, aggregators like EnergyHub coordinate distributed EV batteries to inject power back into the network. This differs from standard smart charging, which only manages when vehicles charge. The bidirectional flow creates a more resilient, flexible grid while generating revenue for EV owners.

Sunrun brings solar-plus-storage expertise, having managed distributed energy resources across millions of customers. The Mobility House operates V2G networks across Europe and Canada, providing proven technology for coordinating vehicle batteries. EnergyHub's software aggregates distributed energy resources and connects them to utility control systems. EverSource and National Grid contribute grid infrastructure and customer access.

Massachusetts has emerged as a V2G testing hub. The state's electricity prices and grid constraints make the economics work, while regulatory support from state utilities commissions has accelerated pilot approvals.
